Women's Audiovisual Center

In collaboration with the Association of Women in Film and the Audiovisual Media (CIMA), we organized a round table at the SGAE headquarters with experts in the audiovisual industry, cinemateques, archives and film education, as a preliminary phase to the creation of the Women's Audiovisual Center (CENAM), a project that intends to start up soon and that will position this center as a new reference cultural space in our country.
Numerous experts belonging to the cultural industries contributed their vision and experience to help develop this new Audiovisual Center with a gender perspective that will work on the creation of a film library, an archive and a mediation/education area.
The working day was held in a hybrid format (face-to-face and virtual). Nicole Fernández Ferrer, director of the Simone de Beauvoir Audiovisual Center in Paris, and Salomón Castiel, director of La Térmica, were the two participants who took part via videoconference to make their contributions.
Among other speakers present at the conference were Concha Vilariño, technical adviser of the Spanish Cinemateque; Alberto de Prada, director of the RTVE Documentary Fund; Luis de León, head of the EFE Agency archive; and María Lorenzo, project coordinator of the Gabeiras Foundation. On behalf of the area of education and mediation, the director of AULAFILM, Helena Fernández; the co-director of the program Cinema in progress, Laia Colell; and cultural managers Susana Galarreta (AMECUM) and Cristina Sáez (Fundación Carasso), among other professionals.
The afternoon session, in which the first conclusions of the working groups were presented, was attended by the general director of the ICAA, Beatriz Navas; the director of the Spanish Cinemateque, Josetxo Cerdán; the film writer and former director of the ICAA, Fernando Lara; and members of the Board of Directors of CIMA.
