The New Dictionary of Old Ideas
Prague, Szczecin, Tbilisi, Madrid
Open call for artists, deadline 18th of February 2019
The New Dictionary of Old Ideas is a network of independent cultural institutions within Central and Eastern Europe born in 2017, that grows in 2018 with Spain and Georgia. The starting theme is the topic of Central Europe and its relation to the current cultural and political situation – with the rise of nationalistic politics, populism, Euro-skepticism and anti-immigration attitudes in the Central Europe. With the expansion of the network the new goal is to take the project to the next level where topic of local identity is confronted with two diametrically different perspectives - represented by hablarenarte, Spain and Silk Museum, Georgia. This will lead to exchange of experience, know-how and hopefully build a better understanding among different European regions.
The new programme is based on an artist residency programme running through 2019 and 2010, intending to build process of cultural exchange and intense research on the European identity. The artists will be selected by open call. The two co-curators of the project are Alba Folgado (Spain) and Data Chigholashvili (Georgia).
Stages:
- Symposium – November 2018.
- Residencies – 2 curators (Spain + Georgia) + 9 artists (3 Spain + 3 Georgia + 2 Czech Republic + 1 Poland)
- Final exhibition – curated by the Georgian and Spanish curators, displayed in the four partner countries.
