(re)vuelta al patio (2023-24)
Centro Cultural Condeduque, Madrid
In its fourth edition, (re)vuelta al patio continues to investigate the place of childhood in cultural institutions through play. After being inspired by geometry as a methodology for free play, trying out feminist football, claiming the street as a space free of cars, freeing horses and zootropes, breaking boundaries by playing and discovering that the patio was once a forest, we continue to propose other forms of inhabit Condeduque.
(re)vuelta to the patio remains in the Central Patio of Condeduque during the warm months, and moves to the Multipurpose Room (Sala Polivalente) in the colder months. Both spaces will be meeting point, a place of welcome, an area of exploration and fun, so that families close to the Center and others less frequent can spend Saturday afternoon in community.
Each of the playing sessions is co-designed between hablarenarte’s team and an artist, educator or social group especially linked to playful practices. In this way, we seek to connect with creators, families, audiences and diverse groups, inviting them to imagine and manage an open cultural programming in which play, criticism and joy go hand in hand.
This publication, written and illustrated by Amalia Ruíz-Larrea, transforms into a tale what happened in the patio of Condeduque during those afternoons.
session 1: The patio makes noise / Noise is ours
October 28, 2023, 16:30-19:30h, CENTRAL PATIO
hablarenarte + Chico Trópico + Álvaro Valls
Starting from a sounding camping and a party lab, we produce music collectively. Using diverse instruments, as well as the materials in the patio and the nature that inhabits this space, we discover the sounds that surround us.
Additionally, Taiwanese comic artist Evergreen Yeh invites us to draw the sounds made by monsters. With the support of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Spain.
session 2: Spatial exercises
November 25, 2023, 16:30-19:30h MULTIPURPOSE ROOM
hablarenarte + Fuentesal & Arenillas + Infinite Creatures
As colder weather arrives, we move to the Sala Polivalente (Multipurpose room) with proposals from artists who use modular pieces to invite free play, and other forms of play and board games based on geometry and rectilinear or circular movements.
session 3: Magnet, wave, spark
January 27, 2024, 16:30-19:30h MULTIPURPOSE ROOM
hablarenarte + Victor Colmenero Mir + Laura Mema
A session to play with flashes, spheres and other magnetic bodies. From the physical andn magical proposals of Víctor and Laura, we will investigate real-world phenomena that seem impossible.
session 4: (re)making families
February 24, 2024, 16:30-19:30h MULTIPURPOSE ROOM
Using drawings, photographs and building puzzles, we will form families as diverse as life itself. Family portraits, fanzines and various games will help us imagine the many possible ways we can be together.
With Malena Hidalgo, Liliana Ang and Rubén Castro
session 5: Children drawing, children playing
March 16, 2024, 16:30-19:30h CENTRAL PATIO
hablarenarte + David Crespo + Dragones de Lavapies
Around a large soccer field, there will be many of us playing and many others painting. In the field, we will escape the competitive logic that governs professional soccer and we will train with balloons, we will design banners, and invent chants that invoke the spirit of our diverse, inclusive team, in which we all fit.
session 6: all wrong
20 de abril 2024 PATIO CENTRAL
hablarenarte + Costa Badía + Rafa P. Martínez + es im-perfect
Based on different artistic proposals, we will celebrate the error, the imperfect. We will play so that nothing turns out well and that everything goes wrong. Drawing upside down, on your back and with your eyes closed. Shoe swapping, tripping chalk, and weird animals. An afternoon to make fruit salad with the rules.
