(re)vuelta al patio (2021-22): an exhibition in the bathroom, collective screams and a concert
Centre for Contemporary Culture Condeduque, Madrid
The second edition of (re)turn to the patio, curated by hablarenarte for Condeduque, has been held between October 2021 and June 2022.
What space exists for childhood in our society? And in cultural institutions?
Based on these questions, during this second season we have sought to promote a critical and purposeful view from the perspective of childhood through play + thought + autonomy + space. Also, to promote gender equality, intergenerational links and the participation of diverse families in the cultural life of the city and in its cultural institutions.
We started with an open session in October and we formed a core group of families to which other members were later added. During the monthly sessions of encounter and action in Condeduque, we have walked the building in search of different clues, we have shared memories and wishes, we have spoken softly, we have painted each other's nails and we have learned to shout together.
The artist Coco Guzmán visited us, and with they we have painted our own signage to have more inclusive bathrooms. And we have installed them in the bathroom itself as an exhibition.
In April and May we were visited by Verborrea Espacial & Mrs Pausa, a musical group with whom we explored the Condeduque Dance Rehearsal Room and invented the lyrics for a song, 'Tomemos el patio', the final video clip of which can be seen here.
We dedicated the last session to enjoying a concert together with Verborrea Espacial & Mrs Pausa and returned to the patio to make a collective final shout.
(re)turn to the patio is a project by hablarenarte for the Mediation program of the Center for Contemporary Culture Condeduque, curated by Christian Fernández Mirón.
