Re-Lab: research & exchange knowledge residency
July 2017, Canary Islands (Spain)
September 2017, Istanbul (Turkey)
Re-Lab is an international collaboration project, promoted by hablarenarte and TAK Kadiköy, focused on spacemaking participatory processes in the cities of Madrid and Istanbul.
Re-Lab is structured around a research residency & exchange knowledge programe, between turkish and spanish collectives. Starting in late May 2017, it ends in September 2017 with an intervention in public space in the neighbourhood of Kadiköy (Istanbul).
The research residency is also a two-way mobility & exchange programme:
- Herkes İçin Mimarlık is the Turkish collective invited to take part in the “X Congreso de Arquitecturas Colectivas” that takes place in Gran Canarias and Tenerife in order to give a lecture of their practice and learn the methodology by working on ground on five different projects that take place during the encounter. Sixty international collectives from Latin America, Europe and Africa also take part of the international event.
- Todo por la Praxis is the Spanish collective in charge of running the workshops and promoting the creation of devices that respond to possible governance models within the framework of participatory urban transformation processes at Kadiköy (Turkey) and Canary Islands (Spain).
Re-Lab is supported by Tandem, a transnational programme for collaborative arts, that strengthens civil society in Europe and its neighbouring regions. www.tandemforculture.org
Tandem – Cultural Managers Exchange Turkey-EU is an initiative of the European Cultural Foundation (Amsterdam), MitOst (Berlin), Anadolu Kültür (Istanbul), and funded by Stiftung Mercator (Essen) and Instituto Cervantes in Istanbul.
