In December 2018 we were granted an apartment in a building in the city center by the regional government of Madrid (Comunidad de Madrid). From March to June 2019, the apartment went through a major renovation and it was completely redesigned to fit its new purpose. The redesign project included new flooring, furniture, and painting.

Planta Alta proposes itself as an open project, guided by the following working lines:

• Research
• Education and Mediation
• In-context residencies

Each programme is organized in collaboration with other cultural agents (artists, curators, cultural managers, and/or any other professionals working around the idea of creation and critical thinking), as well as partner institutions, followed by an activation programme with exhibitions, talks, workshops and more. Future collaborators can participate in the project through direct invitations and open calls.

Besides the on-going collaborations with art institutions we are also organizing the program La ciudad de los cuerpos que disfrutan (2019-2020), curated by Violeta Janeiro.

Planta Alta is supported by many public and private organisations, such as MNCARS, CentroCentro, Estampa Art Fair, Centro de Residencias Artísticas Matadero Madrid, Hangar Barcelona and Spanish Ministry of Culture, among others.
