Art Galleries in Madrid and Barcelona

Jugada a 3 bandas is a program of curated exhibitions in contemporary art galleries that are held simultaneously during seven weeks approx. It interconnnects curators with gallerists, brings new artists in the galleries and opens the doors of contemporary art galleries to a much broader public, seeking to achieve maximum quality exhibitions by combining the efforts of galleries, curators and, of course, artists.

Jugada a 3 bandas has been held in Madrid each April since 2011 and has become a fixed event on the annual calendar of contemporary art in Spain. Its first two editions were conceived and directed by Virginia Torrente, who continues to collaborate as a member of the advisory board. And now, the hablarenarte: association continues the work.

In 2013, we increased the number of participating galleries and exhibition projects. 28 galleries from Barcelona and Madrid joined the project. Jugada a 3 bandas also featured guided tours around the galleries for the general and specialized public, visits by national and international collectors and a rich program of side activities. The parallel edition of Ja3b  in Barcelona proofed to be a success as a means of establishing collaborative networks on a national level.

Aware of the need to open this project, we continue with our effort to internationalize the project in forthcoming editions in order to strengthen the presence of Spanish galleries, curators and artists on a international level.
