El Reto Ingrávido. A curated program Ingràvid 2010
Figueras, Spain
The use of public space as artistic medium shares some ground with other art forms but also has some distinctive features of its own. The shared features, in the majority of cases, are ephemeral, ad hoc interventions targeting a wide audience that has not been “prepared and briefed” for seeing art in a specially set aside area of the museum. In terms of distinctive features, it is the idea, the purpose, the process and reception of the piece by the spectators that changes the outcome of each artistic work.
Changing the point of view of passers-by, getting an individual involved or turning them into accomplice, or using everyday items for artistic ends are all goals that hablarenarte: sets in “El Reto Ingrávido” for three artists and a collective for intervening in the streets of Figueras as part of Ingràvid 2010. Experimentation arising from research and “field work”, so often forgotten by studio artists and, at the same time, an even greater challenge for artists who have to work in a different city from the one where they normally live.
Participating artists: Marlon de Azambuja, Fernando García, Carlos Maciá and La Más Bella
