"Residencies Exchange " Curatorial Programme Estampa

Estampa / Matadero Madrid / Casa Velázquez 20th to 24th of September 2017

The current edition of the Curatorial Programme of Estampa Art Fair 2017, organised by hablarenarte, focuses its attention on art residencies. During three days, 24 directors and curators from distinguished artistic residency centers will meet and discuss with us at the backdrop of Estampa.

Within the field of the visual arts, the dynamizing role of art residency programmes is increasingly evident. The most important European and international art residency centers are important hubs of transformation and internationalization in their local context. In Spain, despite significant advances in recent years and even though its prolific artistic scene, there are still only a few programs specializing in the international exchange of artists and curators.

Aware of this reality, it is our intention to generate an encounter that allows us to think together possible models of residences and production centers. With the aim of providing new perspectives on this topic, we have invited professionals responsible of different artistic residency programmes from Europe and North Africa.
