11 European artists - 11 video-works. A curated program for Ingràvid 2014
Ingràvid Festival, Figueras
Ingràvid, the festival for contemporary art of Figueras (Catalunya, Spain) has commisioned hablarenarte: to present a selection of video-works, based on the artists that we have come to know through our experience with the European Curators' Network project.
The result is a selection of video-works from five European countries. When curating the project, we took very much into consideration the conditions and location of the place where the works would be on show: a single-channel projection in a little hut, that will be set up for this ocasion on the main street of Figueras, a place that attracts a lot of passers-by who not necessarily are used to the codes and languages of contemporary art. For this reason, the common ground of the selected pieces is their capacity to produce pleasure and stupefaction. Of course not all of them claim to produce the perfect example of the classic clean laughter, but none of them leaves half-hearted. That might be a a thin little and melancholic smile, the satisfied look one has, when having consumed a forbidden pleasure or the open mouth out of simple astonishment.
